There are other options to consider if you want to invest in the Allan Gray Orbis funds.
- Although these funds are closed to discretionary investments, you can still invest in the Orbis funds via products such as an endowment or living annuity.
- You can invest directly into the underlying Orbis funds via our offshore platform, using your offshore investment allowance.
Investing via the Allan Gray offshore platform
The primary aim of the platform is to offer a simple range of funds and reduce the high costs of foreign investment. You can transfer cash or existing offshore investments to the platform without the need to repatriate them first. We assist with apply for tax clearance certificates, currency conversions, and transferring foreign currency into our offshore bank accounts.
The investment process
- Investors can invest up to R1 million annually offshore without having to obtain a SARS tax clearance certificate.
- South Africans have a foreign investment allowance of up to R4 million per year.
